CREATION OF THE DISTRICT & BRIEF FACTS/HISTORY

History of District Noshki

  1. Nushki is indeed a piece of geological wonderland on Earth, was formed recently after the bifurcation of Chagai District (2004). The total area of district is 5797 sq/km while the total population is178796. It is adjacent with Afghanistan in north the border is 97km.
  2. The town was named after its nine flour Chukees (watermills) on its “Jo” (canal). But according to some historians it is believed that the town got its name after a banquet when Mughals officials were killed. The word Nushki is derived from two Persian words, “Nosh” to chomp and “Ke’hn” to acquire; literary it meant to get finish or to kill with. Mughals rulers oppressed the people by collecting levy unlawfully, so to get rid of that one night the Badini clan invited the Mughals and according to the plan they did, and the town named “Nosh Kehn” later on “Nosh Key” and now Nushki.
